2022 is the inaugural year of Bloomers Art Writing Programme! Or, BAWP, as it is affectionately referred to. Sign on up for some exciting seminars and workshops held in Crawford Art Gallery, Cork city!
This programme is aimed at participants aged between 18 – 25 years old.
It is based on site at Crawford Art Gallery and is not offered remotely/online.
The idea for BAWP stems from our experiences of writing in third level education. While academic writing is can be a very useful and engaging way to write about art (or anything, for that matter!) it should not be accepted as the only way to write about how art makes you feel or what it means to you.
This programme employs forms of writing described as Auto-Theory, Spectulative Fiction and Embodied Criticism (like The White Pube) to write about, over and around art, to interrogate language structures, and more!

Your voice is valid and a powerful storytelling tool. Through this programme, we want to champion experimentation and accessibility when writing about visual art, so that people feel like that they can use their voice, say how they feel or what they think about art without worrying about whether it is the correct or most intellectual thing or whatever! (Unless that is your vibe.) Along the way you will learn new skills and tricks to experiment with different literary languages and see what comes out!
